These poppies grew at the edge of my front yard. I threw some seeds down late fall and in the summer following I was rewarded with these lovely red flowers. I recently finished this oil painting on canvas and thought Remembrance Day would be a good day to share them.

I have in the neighbourhood of 1000 photos of Water Lilies. While Carl is fishing I keep myself busy with my camera and sketch pad. Fortunately he likes to hunt for Northern Pike in the weeds along the Trent River. That is where I can find these beautiful crisp white flowers.

Every year we head to a place called Jake’s Blue Roof Cottages near Campbellford Ontario. The accommodations are cheap and cheerful, we always have a wonderful time. In early September there is a spot on the river where the sunsets are gorgeous. This painting is a culmination of a number of photos I took one evening. I love all the clouds reflected in swirls on the water. By the way the fishing is pretty good there as well.

Inspired by my friend’s love of roses, I created this lovely piece as a birthday gift. A beautiful flower for the most beautiful woman I know; inside and out.
Recently I’ve been asked to produce portraits. The first photo is a watercolour approximately 16×20″. The second is two 8×10″ pencil sketches. Having just returned from the most fabulous trip to Paris I have plenty of inspiration to work from. I spent some time doing this large oil sketch today after editing some photos (which will be uploaded to my photo page soon). This was just what I had hoped to see and we could not have timed our visit better. The cherry, magnolia trees and spring flowers were in full bloom ce manifique.

This is a painting that I struggled with a little. However I like the colours and the light in the clouds. Riley Lake is a beautiful place. I’m sure many of my friends with recognize this view from the Lawrence family cottage.
